'The inspiration for my work often comes from books, photographs and other printed material such as maps and instruction manuals. Sometimes I construct pictures or sculptures based on a particularly memorable dream.

From these sources I select images that appeal to me and juxtapose them in a way that produces something visually interesting. I then experiment with taking the resulting composition into different media (painting, print, sculpture etc) in a way that compliments the image.

To make the pieces I often use non-traditional art materials, such as etched aluminium, plywood, cardboard and plastic. Also a lot of the materials I use are found objects and recycled junk. This gives my work a distinctive home-made, low-tech quality.

Exploring a fascination with technology, my current work is inspired by air and spacecraft interiors. My toy-like interactive instrument panels invite the viewer to play with imaginary machines.

When I am asked why I make my art I explain that essentially I am fascinated by the whole creative process - playing with ideas, making models, experimenting with mixed media, solving visual problems and the physical act of making something unique and thought-provoking.'
